Market

Using Market and its price pack

Market is a free addon for World of Warcraft: Forever. It records loot, gold, bags, and auction house prices. It does not buy, post, or cancel, and it makes no network requests.

Install Market

  1. Install Market from CurseForge with the CurseForge app, or download it there.
  2. If you downloaded it, unzip it and copy the market folder into Interface/AddOns in your game folder.
  3. Start the game, or type /reload if it is already running. Type /market to open it.

Add the price pack

The price pack gives Market a going price for items you have not scanned yourself. Market 0.18.0 reads its whole-market table. Market 0.17.0 and older read only its twenty-item histories. AHledger's own addon is optional.

  1. Download the price pack.
  2. Unzip it into Interface/AddOns, so the market-provider-snapshot folder sits beside market.
  3. Type /reload in the game.

Download it again whenever you like to get newer prices, or let Market Sync do it for you. The download section shows how old the current pack is.

Keep prices fresh with Market Sync

Market Sync is a small program that installs the price pack beside Market for you. On Windows and Mac it refreshes the pack every 2 hours while your computer is on. It needs no account and uploads nothing.

  1. Install Market first, then download Market Sync for your computer. Keep it somewhere permanent: the automatic refresh runs it from that place.
  2. Run it once. On Windows, double-click it. Market Sync is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: choose More info, then Run anyway. On a Mac, open Terminal in its folder and run chmod +x market-sync-macos-arm64, then ./market-sync-macos-arm64 (the amd64 file on an Intel Mac). macOS may ask you to allow it in System Settings, Privacy & Security.
  3. When it asks whether to keep the prices fresh automatically, answer Y.
  4. Type /reload in game.

On Linux, give it your game folder, for example ./market-sync-linux-amd64 --wow "/path/to/World of Warcraft". Linux has no automatic refresh: run it again whenever you want newer prices.

To stop the automatic refresh, run it again with --uninstall, for example MarketSync-windows-amd64.exe --uninstall. Market and your game settings are never touched.

Privacy: it only downloads, and sends nothing about you. Market Sync never reads or uploads your scans, saved variables, character names or account details, and it has no telemetry.

How prices work

Market shows one price per item. Your own scan from the last hour wins. Otherwise Market shows AHledger's median, marked "† augmented by AHledger". On this site a price marked † is AHledger's median. A dot on the chart is an ask Market saw. Someone had the item listed. A dot is not a sale.

Privacy

Market stores nothing about other players: no names and no chat. This site and the price pack contain only item prices for a market. They never contain a character, account, character ID (GUID), gold balance, trade, bag, ledger or position. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or third-party trackers.

Feedback and bugs

Send feedback from any page. A bug, an idea, or a price that looks wrong. The form writes an email and your mail app sends it. Shane and an assistant read it and turn it into a GitHub issue with the personal details taken out.

FAQ

Why is a price marked †?

† means the number is an AHledger median. A scan from the last hour is the price, and it has no mark. The two are never averaged.

Is a dot on the chart a sale?

No. A dot is an ask Market saw in the auction house. Someone had the item listed. A sale is a mail invoice, and that lands in the ledger, not on the chart.

Does Market buy or post for me?

No. You buy and post yourself. Market records a trade only after the game confirms it.

Do I need the AHledger addon?

No. The price pack supplies the median. AHledger's own addon is optional.

Which market is in the price pack?

Forever, PvP, Alliance, US. A scan you run is the auction house you have open.
